See more of Colorado than just the pool! You are invited to the high country to get a taste of the “real” Colorado. Camp-o-rama this year will not involve camping unless you insist…. the organizers don’t have time to organize camping.
“Base Camp” will be the Debrunner townhouse in Frisco. They can pack quite a few people into the townhouse in beds and air mattresses and camping mats. If there are too many people, you can overflow into nearby hotels (anything near the Walmart in Frisco would be close), but still get together for meals and activities. If you like a wee bit of privacy and having your own bathroom, you may want to book a hotel in any case. Let Agnes know if you want to stay at the townhouse (Sunday, Monday, and/or Tuesday nights) and she’ll hold you a spot: agnesdebrunner at icloud dot com
There are several reasonably priced hotels in the area. There are also campgrounds, but they fill up fast, so if you want to camp, look sooner rather than later.
The group will head up to Frisco on Sunday after the banquet. It’s about a 1 ½ hour drive. Carpooling would be great because parking at the townhouse is limited. The drive back to the airport will be 1 hr 40 - 2 hrs. If you want to stay down the hill for the after-party and you want to get to Frisco on Monday, that is totally fine too.
Once you get to the Frisco/Dillon area, you have a large choice of activities and you can choose based on the weather and energy levels.
Monday (likely) or Tuesday the group will do the now-traditional downhill bike ride from Vail Pass, stop for lunch and snowball fights and roller coaster at Copper Mountain Ski Area, finishing with more downhill back to Frisco.
If you are planning on joining in, please let Agnes know. It makes her life a lot easier. Email: agnesdebrunner at icloud dot com
Activities
If you have energy after the tournament to goof around, here are some possibilities:
There are lots of awesome bike paths and mountain bike trails in the area. Biking down from Vail Pass is very scenic and fun on a paved pathway. Biking up is also very scenic, but maybe not so fun unless you rent an e-bike. The bike path between Frisco and Vail pass is highly recommended. https://rebelskiandbike.com/frisco-main-bike/
This aerial adventure park is not super close to Frisco, but it’s between Frisco and Denver. Hosts haven’t been there, but have seen it from the highway. It looks pretty good. https://www.raftingcolorado.com/colorado-aerial-park/
There are also numerous beautiful hiking trails and fun shopping in the area. Snow will probably be available too.
If there is something you really want to do, speak up and hosts will see if we can get a group together to join you. Or just come and hang out and meet some of the other players. They look and act different with their clothes on...
